Introduction

 Purpose

        Our project aims to analyze the strategic implementation of information systems within Ralph Lauren, focusing on key business processes: its background within inventory management, business strategies, and processes. By analyzing the impact of Ralph Lauren’s information systems on its business strategy, we intend to provide insights and recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their technology infrastructure.

Thesis Statement

        This project seeks to strengthen  Ralph Lauren's management information system by conducting a comprehensive analysis of the company's background, business strategy, and operational process. Through an evaluation of the MIS applications currently used within the store, the project will examine both structured and dynamic workflows, identity system gaps, and propose targeted recommendations for optimization. By comparing potential improvements scenarios, this study aims to enhance overall business performance, elevate the customer experience and increase operational efficiency. 

About Ralph Lauren

            Ralph Lauren corporation was founded in 1967 by Ralph Lauren; it started as a company that made neckties for men.  The first ever Polo by Ralph Lauren shop opens in Bloomingdale, following that in 1971 Ralph opens his first standalone store with the inclusions of a line of women shirts. A year later the infamous Polo shirt debuts and becomes an icon for American style.  During this time his company remained private and everything he was building remained behind closed doors for almost 26 years, until 1997 when Ralph took his company and made it public after reaching $1 billion in sales. 

        Ralph joined licensed alongside other names and brands to expand his company’s reach and audience. He licensed alongside these following companies: Luxottica for eyewear, L’Oreal for fragrances and cosmetics, Hanesbrands for underwear and sleepwear, Designers Guild for their fabric and wallpapers, and Theodore Alexander for home furniture. The company’s brand includes a range of labels that include mid-range, sub-premium, and premium labels that are luxury items for the high class.
